Pet Portraits

Let me capture your beloved pet in ink.

It is an honour to be entrusted with capturing your pet's character in the timeless art of printmaking. Each portrait is a one-of-a-kind fine artwork — and I take a small number of commissions each year to ensure every piece gets the attention it deserves. I use only the highest quality, acid free papers and oil-based inks so your portrait will be archival quality.

The Process

I partner with Badlands Design Co. to create a template that I will work with to create the carved block. The talented graphic designer there can create several mock-ups for you to approve within a few business days - a process that would take me weeks to accomplish! Once you have approved the template, I use your reference photos to incorporate personality and details then begin carving. This step is essential in building trust with you and ensuring the final product will be perfectly to your liking.

I put a lot of love into these portraits. Carving alone can take between 20-40 hours. From start to finish, please allow up to three months for completion. I will send you updates along the way!

What I Need From You

To do your pet justice, I need several high-quality photos — the more the better. Aim for clear, well-lit images with your pet in a portrait-style pose. I'll set up a shared Dropbox folder to make this easy.

Whenever possible, I love to meet your pet, too!

Size & Paper

I recommend sizes between 8×10 and 9×12, though other sizes can be arranged. Your portrait will be printed on your choice of high-quality, acid-free paper with oil-based printmaking ink — several options are included in the base rate.

Pricing

Flat rate: $350 CAD
A deposit of $120 is due upfront, which secures your spot, covers template creation, and supplies. The remainder is due upon completion.

The flat rate includes materials, design, carving, printing, and labour. I offer several choices of high quality, acid free papers within the flat rate.

Your limited edition 1/1 print will be signed and editioned. I offer additional prints for $10 each, a great option for gifting.

Depending on size and shipping, I also offer matting services. I use only acid free and archival matboard, and can cut to any size you need. This comes at an additional cost, usually between $10-$30.
